The Dragut Pirate will disembark again in Cullera on May 23rd and 24th, 2026.
MAY 2026
Cullera is once again preparing for one of the most anticipated events of the year. On May 23 and 24, 2026, the city will go back centuries in time to relive one of the most legendary episodes in its history: the landing of the dreaded Dragut Pirate.

Throughout the weekend, the streets of Cullera will be transformed into an authentic 16th century scenario with historical recreations, landings, battles, live shows, entertainment and a large pirate market that will fill the town with life, history and Mediterranean atmosphere.

This historical reenactment has established itself as one of the major cultural and tourist events in the Valencian Community, attracting thousands of tourists, visitors and resident families every year.

But ... who was really Dragut?

Dragut, historically known as Turgut Reis, was one of the most feared corsairs of the Mediterranean during the 16th century. In 1550 he led the attack and sacking of Cullera, leaving a mark that is still part of the historical memory of the city. Now, centuries later, Cullera relives that episode with a spectacular staging that mixes history, theater and entertainment for all audiences.

The character Dragut, will be played again by Jaco Müller, founder of Indiana Tours Valencia and regular interpreter of our Indiana Jones in the streets of Valencia, Peñiscola and Gandia (more information here).

With more than 20 years of experience in the world of show business and character interpretation, he will again give life to the most feared corsair of the Mediterranean in a show that every year gains more dimension and spectacularity.

What you can experience with your family at the Dragut Pirate's Landing 2026

During the weekend, Cullera will become an authentic pirate scenario where locals and visitors can enjoy:

  • Live historical recreations
  • Pirate landings on the river Xúquer
  • Battles and theatrical battles
  • Pirate market and craft stalls
  • Medieval music and entertainment
  • Children's games and activities
  • Historical characters walking through the streets
  • An immersive environment designed for the whole family to enjoy

The pirate market will be located on Paseo Doctor Alemany, one of the focal points of the event, where there will be medieval atmosphere, juggling, entertainment and activities for all ages.

In addition, the historical recreation of the disembarkation will begin at 19:00 hours and will tour different emblematic points of the historic center of Cullera, creating an immersive experience that blends culture, entertainment and Mediterranean tradition.
